In Jeff's World, we are taking a look at EV Tires - what and why!

Selecting the right tires for an electric vehicle (EV) is crucial, as EVs have unique characteristics and requirements compared to internal combustion engine (ICE) vehicles. Jeff Dziekan is sharing his experience in the tire industry on some factors to consider when choosing tires for an electric vehicle:

Rolling Resistance: EVs benefit from tires with low rolling resistance, as this reduces the energy required to move the vehicle, ultimately improving the vehicle's range.

Load Capacity: EVs tend to be heavier due to the weight of the battery. Ensure that the selected tires have an adequate load-carrying capacity to support the EV's weight.

Regenerative Braking: EVs often use regenerative braking to recharge the battery. This can put more stress on the tires, especially during deceleration. Make sure the selected tires can handle the additional wear and tear.

Efficiency Ratings: Some tires come with efficiency ratings that indicate their impact on the vehicle's energy consumption. Look for tires with high efficiency ratings to optimize your EV's range.

Other factors to consider - Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS), check Brand and Reviews, along with mileage expectations.

Remember that while these factors are important, there's no one-size-fits-all answer. The best tire choice for your EV will depend on your specific vehicle model, driving conditions, and personal preferences. It's recommended to consult your EV manufacturer's recommendations and seek advice from tire professionals to make an informed decision.
