Regardless of where you are on the idea of EVs replacing ICE vehicles, most auto guys agree that when it comes to outright performance, the instantanious torque of an electric motor can be interesting to say the least. Not only are the factories starting to let a little EV performance out of the tool shed, but the aftermarket has been quietly making noise as well.
We have talked with people that have done their own backyard EV conversions on small trucks and cars to shops that are specializing in high-wnd conversions. We even found a shop that is making a cover for an EV motor that looks like a V8 for hoodless hot rods. The things hot rodders do!
In this segment of In Wheel Time Car Talk, we visit with John Metric, owner of Lone Star EV Preformance and past President of the NEDRA or the National Electric Drag Racing Associaition that is modeled closely after NHRA. John shares some of the advances in EV performance that includes boat racing, EV Outlaws and of course some drag racing. Not to let any secrets out, there is an upcoming episode of 'Street Outlaws' that will sneak in an EV truck with some of John's performance enhancements.
